In a previous article, Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter And MLM Invisibility, we described the importance of independence in your MLM downline.  In this article, the topic is an even higher trait:  Interdependence.  Here are some quotes from ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey:

“There is a continuum of maturity from dependence to independence to interdependence.

Dependence is the attitude of YOU.

  • You take care of me.
  • You didn’t come through for me.
  • I blame you for these results.

Independence is the attitude of I.  It takes self confidence to be self reliant.

  • I can do it.
  • I will do it.

Interdependence is the attitude of WE.

  • We can do it.
  • We will do it.
  • We’ll cooperate.
  • We’ll accomplish this.

Dependent people need others to get what they want.  Independent people can get what they want through their own efforts.  Interdependent people require their own efforts and the cooperation of others to get what they want.

It doesn’t take much thought to realize how much more mature interdependence is than independence.  We can only achieve interdependence if we first achieve independence to a very high degree.”

One of the first steps toward independence is becoming a student of your profession.  The best overview of the MLM industry is this free report Big MLM Lies.
