When choosing the best MLM company for you, be sure to separate the company’s goods or services from the commissions you will be paid for selling them. To stay in business, every company has to have a good product, but …
The Product Is Not The Payplan!
Confusing the two, or lumping them together in your mind makes for cloudy thinking, bad decisions, and disappointment down the road.
Here’s an analogy we now use that has helped many people make the distinction.
One of our favorite products is Energizer Batteries. Why?
- They look good. That black and silver case is classy!
- They last a long time. Our flashlights and radios keep going and going and going …
- The price is right. We get great value for our money!
- You can’t get a better celebrity endorsement than the Energizer Bunny. Too cute, right?
But do we sell Energizer Batteries for a living?
No!
Why not?
We’d have to get a job at a hardware store and stand around all day in a back support and orange apron at minimum wage waiting for someone to drop in and buy some batteries!
Great product. Lousy pay plan!
If you are planning to make a living with the company, ignore the product and look at the pay plan. If it’s a great product, you can still buy it, but if it’s a lousy pay plan, you don’t have to marry the company.
Find a company with a good product and a fair pay plan and fall in love with THAT product.
To learn more about making the right decision, read Chapter 9 of Success in Ten Steps by Michael Dlouhy. It’s the book that has saved thousands of network marketers years of failure and frustration.
